Healing Homes Project
The Healing Homes Project is a housing initiative created by Let’s Talk About It: The Power of Healing to help survivors of sexual assault rebuild their lives through safe, stable, and permanent housing. Many survivors face challenges after trauma, including housing instability, financial hardship, and lack of support. This project was created to provide an opportunity for survivors to move forward with security, independence, and hope.
Through the Healing Homes Project, our organization plans to build new construction homes in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and surrounding areas for low-income survivors and their families who are in need of safe and stable living environments.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide survivors with more than emotional support. We want to give individuals and families the opportunity to live in safe homes, build independence, and create a better future. We believe that healing is stronger when a person has stability, security, and a place they can call their own.
The Healing Homes Project focuses on long-term solutions by helping survivors work toward homeownership instead of temporary housing.
What the Program Provides
The Healing Homes Project will provide:
Newly constructed homes for qualified survivors
Safe and stable living environments
Opportunities for homeownership
Financial readiness and homeownership education
Support through the qualification process
Long-term stability for individuals and families
These homes are not rental properties. The goal of the program is to help survivors become homeowners so they can have permanent housing and independence.
Program Enrollment Fee
Participants in the Healing Homes Project may be required to pay a program enrollment fee to help cover administrative costs, program coordination, participant support services, and development of housing opportunities through the nonprofit.
This fee is separate from any required homeownership education classes and helps support the nonprofit’s ability to continue providing services and developing housing programs for survivors in need of safe and stable homes.
All fees collected are used for nonprofit program expenses and operations.
Program Requirements
Participants in the Healing Homes Project must complete program steps to qualify for homeownership opportunities. These steps may include:
Homeownership education classes
Financial readiness preparation
Credit and budgeting guidance
Program participation requirements
Mortgage pre-approval when applicable
These steps help ensure that participants are prepared for the responsibility of owning a home.
Our Goal
Our goal is to build new homes that provide survivors with safety, independence, and long-term stability. We want to create communities where survivors can live without fear and focus on healing and rebuilding their lives.
The Healing Homes Project is designed to help individuals move from surviving to healing, and from healing to stability.
Future Vision
Let’s Talk About It: The Power of Healing plans to expand the Healing Homes Project to serve more families in Winston-Salem and surrounding communities. Our vision is to develop multiple homes and neighborhoods that provide safe housing for survivors who are ready to move forward in their lives.
We believe that safe housing can change lives, strengthen families, and build stronger communities.
